Contactor control is a classic method of managing crane operations, based on the use of electrical contactors to control motor power circuits. In this system, contactors serve as electrical switches that turn the motors on and off and control their direction of rotation. Depending on the configuration, contactors can also regulate various functions, such as speed or gear changes, by configuring the appropriate circuits.

Contactor control is particularly effective in simple applications where reliability and robustness are required. This system allows for precise control of basic crane functions, such as lifting, lowering, and moving loads. Contactor-based control systems are valued for their simplicity, ease of maintenance, and stable operation in various industrial conditions.

Compared to more advanced systems, such as variable speed control or digital control, contactor control offers less flexibility in terms of precise speed control and dynamic regulation. However, it remains a popular solution in many crane installations due to its simplicity and proven reliability.
